anybody would like to guess what those words mean?

when will they learn that reading is good?

reading is one of the ways to improve language acquisition.

that's why i always encourage my students to read.
the question is, how many will heed this advice?
many give reasons such as not having time or language is difficult to understand or newspaper too expensive (huh? they can buy a 10 ringgit topup but can't "afford" to buy $1.50 The Star?".

many times the reasons they gave are just...
reasons for not wanting to do it (the reading).

or if they do read, it'll be materials that are more inclined towards trivial matters such as entertainment gossips.

i'm not asking students to read books or reading materials as thick as a brick. 2 or 3 articles/news on current issues/news in a day is already sufficient for a beginner. unfortunately, some students refuse to admit that their level is "beginners" level. reason? they're adults so they want to be in the adults "reading materials" group.

huh, "is-are-was-were-am" pun tergolek tertonggeng, berangan nak dok dalam group tu...

Nothing is easy in the beginning but...

KL Book Fair 2009

will be going there this Saturday 25th April. With 2 other English lecturers and 30 students. hoping to buy some great books i.e. thesaurus

Anak melayu oh anak melayu...

The English Unit conducts an English remedial class for semester 1 students every Monday 3.30pm.

these students are selected due to their very poor performance in their Diagnostic test conducted during their MISRA week.

sayangnya ada antara mereka yg masih tak sedaq diri mereka tu lemah yg amat. bukan kene bayaq pun kelaih tu. free ja... from 13 students, only a few yg really tunjuk minat nak belajaq. yg sorang ni, dah 5 minggu berturut-turut tunjuk lagak tak mau datang. kot mereka-mereka yg suke monteng ni pandai, takpe gak. ini B***H P***G.

berlagak je lebih...

sebab tu ramai anak Melayu susah nak maju. Ada peluang, free pulak tu, dipersiakan. lagi suke dating tepi longkang...

sedar le anak-anak Melayu oii....
awak keturunan VVIP pun, if ilmu takde... hampeh gak.

apa yg di-observe di Melaka Sentral

i went to PC Fair this morning.
dalam dok nak tengok2 aje... "ter"-sambar satu 5800XM. hehehe...

while waiting for the bus to go back to Bukit Katil (which was way behind the schedule), i took the chance to observe people.

1. warga asing lagi ramai dari Malaysians.

2. ramai students nak balik asrama

3. satu pasangan ni, fuhh... sakan berpeluk. but when the guy saw me, dia terus tolak awek dia.
kenapa? because the person he saw is... his lecturer. hehehe... awek dia? memule tu dia "marah" le. apsal lak tetibe je pakwe dia tolak dia. tapi bile dia mule terperasan sapa yg tercongok kat tempat menunggu bas tu... dengan dia-dia skali muke cuak and terus mencicit blah... hehehehe...
gamak nye diorang tak expect lecturer dok ada kat stesen bas kut...

4. pun melibatkan students. ni yg jenis, gi klas...pakai tudung, abis klas, terbang tudung. Again, they too tak expect a lecturer dok tercongok tunggu bas...so when they saw me there, huh... memang "zupppp"... cube meng-ghaibkan diri...

siapa bebudak tu? for me to know, for them to... paham2 sendiri je la.

Al-Kulliyyah

since I rarely get the chance to attend ceramah agama,
so I make it a point to watch TV3's Al-Kuliyyah that is aired on Thursdays at 5pm.
seronok dgr tajuk2 yg dibincangkan...

macam hari ni punye tajuk, Jenazah.
Ustaz Datuk Abu Hassan Din al-Hafiz talked about the difference between
Jenazah, Janazah & Jinazah.

he also talked about hukum using the dead body as a research item by doctors,
about tattoos (wahsham), post-mortem & also organ donating.

all in all, a very interesting topic.
and as always, he has a great sense of humour.
up till now, tak pernah lagi aku boring dengar ceramah dia.
ada je lawak dia...lawak dalam serius.

and Alhamdulillah he has recovered from his injuries due to a fall recently.

well.... from my experience, it's going to be B, C, or D...

yeah, you'll get A but...
